Early Stage Investment Focus
Sofinnova specializes in investing in early stage start-ups that are led by ambitious entrepreneurs, employing innovative technology to either create a new market or dramatically disrupt an existing one.

We lead or co-lead deals with strong syndicate partners providing the first institutional capital. Typically, we invest $3 to $5 million initially and expect to invest $5 to $15 million over the life of a company. A vast majority of investments are in Series A or seed stage. Our investments range from $100,000 to $500,000 for seed investment to as much as $10 million for an early-stage round.

Corporate Spin-outs
In addition to traditional early stage start-ups, we also invest in corporate spinouts. Our years of experience in orchestrating successful spin-outs enables us to work with corporate partners every step of the way.

Focus Areas
We invest in start-ups developing components, systems or software. We focus on product-oriented companies selling horizontal, scaleable technologies. This focus often leads us invest to in companies with a significant sustainable technology advantage.

Given the accelerated innovation driving the rapid adoption of mobile technologies in the consumer, enterprise and service provider markets, we have an emphasis across the wireless value chain.
