Anand Mehra, M.D., joined Sofinnova to focus on biopharmaceutical investing. Anand’s diverse background equips him to work with entrepreneurs on scientific, clinical, and strategic levels. Prior to Sofinnova, Anand worked in JP Morgan’s private equity and venture capital group also focusing on biotech. At JP Morgan, he was heavily involved in their investments in Phenomix, Kemia, and CardioKinetix, management of their public portfolio, and the firm’s spinout from the bank. At Sofinnova, Anand is a director of Marinus Pharmaceuticals; active in Anthera and Prestwick Pharmaceuticals; and played an instrumental role in Sofinnova’s investments in Hyperion and PreGlem.

Before joining the venture community, Anand was a consultant in McKinsey & Co’s pharmaceutical practice advising pharma and biotech on key strategic issues, and an NIH funded fellow that has authored several peer-reviewed publications and reviews on reperfusion injury in stroke. Anand received his M.D. from Columbia Medical School and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Virginia where he spent his spare time running calls as a firefighter.
