SOFINNOVA VENTURES EXPANDS INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TEAM WITH ADDITION OF KAUFFMAN FELLOW JAY BODDU
SAN FRANCISCO, CA. – June 27, 2007 – Sofinnova Ventures, a venture capital firm specializing in early-stage life science and information technology investments, today announced that Jay Boddu will join the firm’s Information Technology (IT) team. Jay will hold the role of Kauffman Venture Fellow. Working along side his IT team members, Jay will focus on infrastructure deals leveraging Sofinnova Ventures’ practice in the wireless sector and deep corporate spin off experience.

About the Kauffman Fellows Program
Sofinnova Ventures has been actively engaged with the Kauffman Fellows Program for several years. Founded in 1994, the 24-month Kauffman Fellows Program is designed to develop and network emerging leaders in the venture capital industry globally. The program provides a rigorous learning and development experience connecting the best of adult learning theory with the needs of contemporary venture capitalists and features interactivity through case-based activities. Each year the program accepts a select group of individuals. Jay is a member of the Kauffman Fellows twelfth class.
About Jay Boddu
With more than 15 years in the technology sector, Jay joins Sofinnova from Juniper Networks Inc., where he managed the $125 million/year Security Gateway platform business. As an early employee at Juniper, Jay led the architecture and implementation of key networking technologies that are incorporated in virtually all core and access routing platforms developed by Juniper today. Jay was instrumental in bringing to market the J-series product line that drove Juniper’s entry into the $3.5 billion/year customer premise routing market. He is also credited with numerous initiatives at Juniper including an enterprise Voice-over-IP effort that culminated in a joint product development partnership program with Avaya Inc.
Prior to Juniper, Jay held key technical positions at Sun Microsystems, Amdahl Corporation, ATI Research, and venture funded start-ups. Within these companies, Jay was responsible for developing market leading products including SuperSparcTM and UltraSparcTM RISC microprocessors, MpactTM multi-media processors. ?
Jay received a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, India, an M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Iowa State University and an MBA from Santa Clara University. He has 14 patents pending or approved and three international publications.
