Meeting the Early Stage Challenge
We work intimately with ambitious entrepreneurs and experienced managers who want to apply innovative technologies and business models to create new markets or dramatically disrupt old ones. The focus of our Life Science practice is biopharmaceutical products, and the Technology side invests in components, systems, and software that broadly impact the evolving mobile ecosystem.
Sofinnova Ventures leads 90% of our deals. The firm’s investors have a track record of building substantial companies with top tier management. We work intimately with entrepreneurs and other investors to create exceptional products and technologies.
The Technology team invests $5–15 million over the life of a company with an initial investment of $3–5 million, and the Life Science team invests from $15–30 million in a company with an initial commitment of $5–15 million. Both teams make seed-stage investments from $100,000–$1 million to incubate promising technologies out of academia or industry.
Spin-Out Experience
The majority of our deals are spin-outs of single products or technology platforms with people from existing corporations. Our investment professionals have extensive experience orchestrating successful spin-outs that serve the interests of both the founding team and the corporate partners.
